What is a Polterabend?

Polterabend is a German pre-wedding tradition where friends and family gather to celebrate the upcoming marriage by breaking ceramics or porcelain. The shards are supposed to bring good luck to the couple. At the end of the event the couple must work together to clean everything up. Guests are encouraged to bring and throw dishes, plates, or other breakable ceramics, with the belief that the couple will "mend" their relationship after the chaos, symbolizing unity and resilience.

Program

Since our wedding will be multi-lingual, we would like to limit the program in order to enjoy the company of all the guests. However, if you would really like to contribute something to our program, please consult first with our program officers:

Gifts

The best gift for us will be, if we can spend this day with you.  However, if you wish to honor us with a gift, we will gratefully accept a small contribution towards our honeymoon.
